FAQ

  • Why Squarespace?

I spent years coding websites and from there moved on to WordPress, and then to Squarespace. Every aspect of Squarespace - user experience, featureset, SEO friendliness, design and more - all work together to create one of the few content management systems I'm proud to recommend. It is the only platform I have come across that allows clients to easily make updates themselves.

  • What about Shopify?

My recommendation is pretty simple - if you have more than 100 products or have complicated shipping or multi-currency needs, I recommend Shopify over Squarespace. If your main aim is to showcase content, particularly images, then Squarespace is definitely the more elegant, flexible solution. Squarespace allows you to create fully functional online stores at a slightly cheaper price point than Shopify.

  • When are you available for new projects?

I generally book 2-3 months in advance. Design Days are limited and usually require 3 months notice.

  • What is your booking process?

I offer an intake form to ensure we are on the same page and have set appropriate goals. We meet over video chat or in person to confirm a good fit. I provide a proposal and contract which requests a 50% deposit to secure a spot in my calendar. Final payment is due at the end of the project. I accept credit cards, e-transfer and cheques. Payment plans are available.

  • Why do you recommend professional photography?

You may offer the best in your industry, but if your images are less that professional, you will lose credibility. Stylized shots, head shots and product shots are important. If stock photography is the answer, I can help source these for you but I aim to work only with professional imagery.

  • What do I need to do to get ready for my project?

Before beginning a brand or web project, ensure your business name is registered and you have selected a domain name. After you’ve secured your spot in my calendar I will send you directions to help us collect everything we need, namely supporting brand documents, website text and images.
