Why not wait until THREE issues are ready to post them?

Read Boulevard February
Read February
February’s cover was the most fun to shoot – not only is it a dog, but one of my favorite dogs, Munro! He stayed in position for a good two hours, definitely earning the Woofles treats. As he posed with his bow tie (inside story), I said it looked like he was about to have a scotch. So photographer Gary McKinstry made it happen! Out came the scotch, glass and ice. Very debonaire.
Although Esi Edugyan has had plenty of local coverage lately, Azim captured her in a light that presents her in a new way. Thanks to The Superior for opening up especially for us.
I’m very excited about Sarah MacNeill’s involvement with the magazine as the writer for Design Matters. Check out the liberty print boots and birdcage umbrellas on page 54.
Everybody has time to make popcorn, right? Love the vintage/rustic feel of Justin Eckersall’s shot of our recipes.

Read Boulevard January
Read January
On the cover is the home of architect Terence Williams, a modern yet subtle retreat in Cadboro Bay, shot by Vince Klassen.
“Football” and “Victoria” aren’t generally spoken in the same sentence, but the story on Terrel and Marcus Davis, Victoria’s best in the football scene, is opened by a dramatic family portrait by Vancouver based photographer Justin Eckersall. Also in this issue by Eckersall is a shot of the new Chevy Volt in front of Dockside Green. He managed to capture the vehicle in motion while fending off commissionaires.
Emily Sawyer Smith, a “real” cowichan knitter is captured by Dean Azim in a beautifully melancholic tone.

Read December
You’ve heard of “Christmas in July”, in this case it was “Christmas in August”. It was one of the hottest days of the summer up at Bear Mountain for the Hot Properties shoot for this issue. The team at Home Style Solutions exploded on the scene with all the trimmings for a small space Christmas. Also in this issue, Dean Azim presented me with so many outstanding images from the Stone Soup Inn, that I was unable to choose – so I didn’t! Nigel Brown, new to Boulevard, was my go-to person for shots to accompany the Travel Near Pacific Marine Circle Route story.

A new website has been launched for www.wisequacks.org!

www.wisequacks.org
The website was launched back in 2009, but the “Wisequacks” (Dr. Dave Hepburn and Dr. Rob Sealey) had outgrown the original design. They needed something dynamic, powerful and easy to update. The new website was built using WordPress which will allow the ‘Quacks to update the site regularly from their end with new articles, medical information, podcasts and videos. A new question is posted every week, and what’s most exciting is that you can ask further questions or submit your own. The site is organized and action packed, while keeping the main goal in mind – to be the go-to hub of medical information, all dished up with a little humour. So go ahead, take a test, listen to a podcast or find out why prostate cancer and finger length are linked…

I came across this desktop calendar wallpaper today and I was reminded of what inspired me to create this painting. The view from the back seat was just like this. The desktop wallpaper is available for download from Paper Leaf here.

Lori from Simple Essence Life Design came to me with an existing business card design and was looking for a slight re-work. I liked the image and thought that the sentiment could be even stronger paired down.
Simple Essence Life Design offers an opportunity for those who are “wanting to increase your joy factor in life, wanting to learn how to deal with your kids differently, looking for help finding your true passion in life, or just feel like your life could really use a boost up to the next level”, an opportunity to take confident strides in the right direction. Stay tuned for news on her website.

Red Hot Bicycle Wedding Invitation designed by Beth Campbell Creative
Happy 6 week anniversary (tomorrow) M&P! These wedding invites and announcement cards were a joy to design. I was inspired by this couple’s eye for design, their soft spot for bicyclettes and their killer style. The poppies in the basket on the bike are a nod to the bride’s poppy tattoo. It’s the little things that make something personal, and that much more special. I love these shots from their wedding in April. Check out the bride’s gorgeous blue dress, the grooms fab hat and the booze canoe!

Royal Jubilee Denture Clinic Web Site
Back in September I announced the launch of Royal Jubilee Denture Clinic’s logo. I am so pleased to welcome them to the World Wide Web! This project focused on the clinic’s target market by showcasing easy to access information along side the clinic’s well established colour scheme, images of the clinic and use of large, easy to read text.
Have a closer look here and check back this week to view Royal Jubilee Denture clinic’s collection of print materials from business cards to greeting cards.
I’d go to this denture clinic just to hang out:

Fresh Silk Pillowslip by Tanja De La Hoz
Last night I slept for the first time on one of Tanja De La Hoz’s Fresh Silk Pillowslips. I’ve been missing out. I worked with Tanja to create a logo and packaging for her line of silk pillowslips. I love that they are made in Canada, are hypo-allergenic and as stated on the package “…silk will not absorb lotions or steal moisture from your face while you sleep.” From fresher skin to less touseled hair, these are the perfect gift: me-to-me, hostess, mother’s day, shower….

Vasati Homes logo
Last month saw the launch of a logo and web page for Vasati Homes in Vancouver BC. Offering custom residential design and construction, the stylized home in the logo design uses greens to reflect the meaning of “vasati”: an integral architectural concept based on the natural laws of spacial energy used to bring the living space in resonance with nature and its inhabitants.
Vasati Homes requested a one page web site to provide easy access to an image gallery and contact info. Update: site no longer active, but here’s a screen shot:
